I have been trying to install the 2018.2 update and it gets all the way to the end and rolls back. I checked event viewer and don't see any actual cause. I have tried more than 6 times in various ways and still same result. Currently running 2018.1

I really don't want to do the nuclear option. The system runs fine and I have 10+ users that depend on it. It is only annoying that every time you close out of sage it says it needs an update.
Does it give an error message? Also, I want to be perfectly clear: when you mention, "rolls back," are you saying that the install wizard actually says or mentions "rolling back action" and the progress bar starts reversing, or are you saying that the upgrade install just crashes and you're left with a program that is still in 2018.1?
It goes all the way though the update, then displays "Restoring Data this may take a few minutes". Then a box pops up and says the update failed, with 2 radio button options.
•Restart windows and run the update again
•Try to install update next time sage is closed
I have tried both options multiple times with the same result.
We may only be on 2018, I thought there was a 2018.1
Actual version is Sage 50 Quantum accounting 2018 Build: 25.1.00.0131
I have been administering this for many years, so I am not new to this.
So, full disclosure, I work for Sage. I'm not sure if that was clear by what appears on my profile.
The 25.1 build number indicates you are indeed on 2018.1.
The more accurate article for steps would be Error: "Sage 50 update could not be completed and needs to be run again."
I have tried multiple times disabling antivirus and "run as administrator" and from the update package directly. I will try deleting the package and re-downloading it. I have installed many of the previous updates without any problems on the current machine. Since you work for Sage it would be nice to allow to install updates when connected remotely. Otherwise it requires to kick everyone out or be on site after hours.
I will try a few things listed on the link and let you know what happens.
Thank you
Something Interesting I found in the Onlineupdate text file is
Access to the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Peachtree\Applications\Version 25\ProductAndServices' is denied
It should be:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Peachtree\Applications\Version 25\ProductAndServices'
Because of 64bit machine
In the previous version of the key "version 24" there is an entry under "productandservices" (wow6432node) none in the "version 25"
If you open the Peachtree250.ini file, what do you have for the PROGRAMPATH= line ?
PROGRAMPATH=C:\PROGRA~2\Sage\PEACHT~1\
Change it to read the full path, e.g. PROGRAMPATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage\Peachtree.
Do the same for your data path in the same file. Then try your upgrade install again.
