Sage 50 2016 to 2017

Question

Hi, 
 I don't use Sage often so this may be a simple question. I have a client who is using Sage 50 2016 but I only have licenses for 2017 and 2018, is it possible for me to open the client file in 2017 or 2018 and still be able to send back journal entries? If so, how do I go about opening the file in the newer version?

As I'm sure you know, when you open their company file it will be converted to the version you are using and can't be converted back. But the format for importing general journal entries is the same in all of those versions. So if all you want to do is make general journal entries and then export them by going to the File menu > Select Import Export > General Ledger, the file you create could be imported into their version 2016 file.
