What exactly is in a client ledger?   Notes regarding the case or just billing the set fee for services?   If just the services, you could use the Customer Management Tab in Sage 50.   If you want to add notes, use ACT!  You can tie them together where you can see the billing in ACT! with S50 data.

A client ledger shows money that has gone in and out for a client.  If I advance the client $100 out of the operating acct I need to attach that check to his ledger.  If I pay a doctor bill for the client, that check needs to be attached to his ledger.  If I received money from his insurance company and it is deposited into the trust acct, I need to attach that deposit to his ledger.  When we settle the case, I have to recoup all monies paid out on behalf of the client before I can write the client his settlement check.

I also need to attached any expenses that I incur for this client.  If I have a charge on the credit card for a FedEx charge, I need to attach that to the clients ledger when I paid it so I can recoup that at settlement time.

Ok, use job costing and sent up the client as a customer.  You can see all transactions

on the customer management tab.

Ive just created a dummy company and made a few transactions through the Job Costs and I am not sure that ledger will give me enough detail.  Do you have any attorneys using Sage 50 where I can look at a ledger to see how they have it set up?
