Cartspan vs SoftCookies vs Custom MYSQL

Hi All,

We've been lucky during this unprecedented time to be very busy and thus our invoicing output as increased. Was looking for a way to import invoices from my Opencart.

I had read from another post about CartSpan. However, after reaching out, my experience on the phone was pretty bad and followed up by an equally sour email from the owner who because we didn't choose to stay with them in 2013 (which I don't really recall), would not offer their software.

Kind of weird to turn away business but ok...moving along.

Any recommendations on importing? I may just go the Upwork route and have someone create a customer PHP program to pull from our MYSQL database and then we upload it to Sage. Essentially that what CartSpan does and I'd be doing it minus the annual fee. Not terribly difficult.

Any out of the box solution suggestions welcome. Thank you!

    Hi Steve,

You are like the groom that ditched the bride at the alter, then unwittingly asks her to marry later.

When you contacted me back in 2013 regarding integration to OpenCart, I wasn't supporting it at that time. I offered to build the integration at my expense in order to expand my offering. I completed my side of that commitment but you then fled at the first sign of any real preparations on your side. The only thing that you had left to do was to ensure Item IDs were properly referenced on the corresponding SKU fields for the items in OpenCart. This is where you unceremoniously informed me that you were "switching from Peachtree to QuickBooks and would be using SoftCookies for integration."

The last words of your post, "Not terribly difficult", are testimony to your poor fickle character and disrespect for peoples' time. Don't act like a victim.

    Hi Scott,

I appreciate you reminding me of the events. I don't hold grudges from 8 years ago and do not recall you creating something for us. Personally, I would never create or start a job without payment. Seems odd to me that you would build something for anyone without so much as a deposit. Doesn't add up. I use Upwork frequently, all my developers get a deposit in an escrow account prior to starting any of my customer software. I have excellent ratings from all my developers.

RE: Soft Cookies I have 2 companies that I own and one uses Quickbooks. We've been using https://www.syncwithconnex.com/ with Quickbooks for over 5 years now.  As we are so busy, I decided to find a similar solution for our company that uses Sage 50 and was reminded of your software from a post on here. That led to my unfortunate experience with you. Perhaps I caught you on a bad day? I understand that people are stressed out during this crazy time.

I'm not here to disparage your business and I wish you the best of luck. However, I do think you might want to reconsider how you behave towards potential clients.

Best of luck to you and be safe. I'm sure you software is great and that you are a very talented  developer. We'll move on (hopefully you can too) and find a custom solution on Upwork.
