Delete Account from Chart of Accounts

I want to delete an account from the Chart of Accounts. However, a dialog box keeps indicating that the account will not delete because it is used on a transaction.

HOWEVER, there are no transactions whatsoever in the General Ledger for the account in question.

What else can I troubleshoot to get the account to delete? I cannot find any data on another cause for the account not deleting even though there are no transactions associated with it.

Hello Ginger. If you are receiving a message that there are transactions tied to the account, it will not let you delete it, unfortunately. If you have viewed both open years to verify there are no transactions in the account and it has a 0.00 balance, you can mark the account as inactive and purge it through the purge wizard. Click here for instructions on how to run the purge wizard.

If you do not want to purge, you can also mark it as inactive and hide inactive records. To hide inactive records, simply browse to the top to Options and select Global. In that window, under other options, you can check to hide inactive records and then hit OK.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. I'm aware of inactivating and purging. But, if the rule is to have no transactions in it to delete it, then I don't understand why that doesn't hold true. Frustrating.
