Paypal Integration with Sage 50

SUGGESTED

Does anyone know a way to import invoices sent thru Paypal into Sage 50 desktop (not cloud)?  Ideally I'd like something that takes the invoices from Paypal and inserts into Sage but I'd settle for an import file if I didn't have to do too much manual processing.

Thx!

This is not as easy as one would like.  To keeps this short.  Looking at all the information that goes into an invoice, you have a customer, shipping information, inventory (line items), sales tax, GL accounts, and freight.  The two big issues are customers and inventory.  You cannot import sales with a customer or an inventory item that is not established in Sage 50.  So you would need to check your export, find missing customers, create them, then check for the inventory items and do the same.  Another issue you would have is to find some common way to match existing items.  I believe that Paypal does not use proper ID's (Customer ID, Inventory ID) like Sage 50, so you would need to use a customer email address or another field to match the two systems together.  The same holds true for the inventory items (if you are going to use them).  You could just import line items as description items and don't use Sages 50 inventory.  Then you have G/L Account ID for Sales, A/R, Freight, Sales Tax, and inventory.  The list is long with issues for simply importing sales.   It can be done, but the time and cost may not cover the volume of transactions you are importing.  Hopefully, someone will chime in here with an existing solution.

We have done similar projects in the past.  To keep development cost down we use an existing Paypal export file, run it through our software to create a new export file that can be directly imported into Sage 50 Sales Journals.  It will create separate import files for the customers and inventory if needed.  It will also fill in the missing information such as General Ledger Accounts and other fields to Sage 50 import requirements.

Good luck with Paypal.  I lost so much money with PayPal when the client decided to purchase without consulting with us first and we had to refund money because we didn't have the product they needed.  Have you considered using Paya?  You can simply send a click to pay Invoice to the client.  It is already in your Sage 50 and you can easily mark it paid when they purchase.
