Need "Sage" advice for Sage slow load

SUGGESTED

Hi

We use Sage 50 2021. We have about 10 users who connect to a Sage server over the network. Opening the program on client machines takes an extremely long time, and I'm trying to troubleshoot that.

On my client machine it reliably takes 36 seconds from double-clicking the icon, to seeing the username and password box.

At first I thought this was poor server performance with a relatively old Dell rack server running 2012r2. It's not. Looking at server performance:

-CPU is essentially at idle,
-RAM is sufficient,
-Disk is essentially at idle.
-LAN Gigabit networking is basically idling.

5-10 users is asking almost nothing of the server resources. There is no spike in resource use during the 36 second load time.

I have tried the following to troubleshoot:
-Reinstall on a client machine using the UNC path option instead of a mapped network drive.
-Uncheck IPv6 on the client network card.
-Disable BitDefender anti-virus on the client machine.
-Disable UAC on client machine.

No improvement so far. Incidentally, I also have a test Sage server in a testing environment.  Using the same company file restored from a backup, the load time is 10 seconds.

Please help if you have any ideas, thanks!

Server : Windows Server 2012r2
Clients : Windows 10
Build : Sage 50 Quantum Accounting 2021 SR-1, Build 28.1.01.0176

Is the test server 2012R2?  I think that is the issue.

Thanks for replying.  I don't think that's the issue because my test server that I have is also 2012r2.  Considering that the hardware is barely taxed at all, could this be some sort of permission issue?

I wouldn't spend any more time troubleshooting. The load times you're seeing are about the same as I'm seeing on a standalone PC. The program is just slow to launch. It's also normal (by Sage 50 standards) to not have a wait cursor for much of that time.

You actually want to ENABLE iPv6 instead of iPv4, if your network card can handle iPv6. Also, you should EXCLUDE FROM ACTIVE SCANNING in your Anti-Virus program your local Sage installation directory, your local Pervasive/Actian Zen installation directory, and your network Sage 50 Shared data directory. Also I'd like to mention that BitDefender has been extremely aggressive with Sage 50's last few versions, so even though you have it disabled on the local machines, you may want to go ahead and uninstall it, and replace it with the likes of AVAST, or another not so aggressive anti-virus product, i.e. not Norton or McAfee. Lastly, take a look at your local firewall settings, as well as the firewall on your server, and do a test with both of these turned complete off (public/private/domain). If that helps, you can always make a determination as to whether or not you need to turn it back on. Please reach out to us if we can be of any other assistance, https://pcosupport.com

Thanks for your reply.  When I disabled BitDefender on the client there was no change.  I will disable on server as well and test.
