Sage City is an advertising platform, not a help forum.

It seems the answer to almost every question someone asks in the forums is: "'why yes, sage can do that, email my firm for more information about how the services we sell can help you with this."

Younger more innocent Josh.0 expected accounting software from 2021 to be able to do some of the things (like merging IDs and preparing reports and seeing what invoice a prepayment was applied to and importing/exporting all the fields for our inventory items) that we have been asking for since Sage was Peachtree.  Accounting software is just a database; we've been working with them since the 80's.  Do I expect too much from a billion dollar software company or have we offended Sage and the lack of basic tools which are only available from 3rd party vendors is the penance for our transgressions?

Does Sage actually implement any suggestions or is that a waste of time because every post just stays "under review"?

  • Sage City isn't an advertising platform, nor was it designed to be a platform for users to primary obtain technical support assistance. Instead, it's a platform where users can exchange ideas and thoughts on utilizing the software to fit their needs. Sage offers other avenues for users to obtain assistance if they are current Business Care clients. For users who are not current Business Care, that is where Sage Certified Consultants come in, which is primarily those who are offering their services.

Sage Certified Consultant specialize in out-of-the-box solutions for clients, i.e. custom reports, workarounds, etc. - things that Sage's staff does not work with every day. Some of the information that you mention in your post here Sage 50 can do - out of the box, such as preparing reports, seeing what Invoice a prepayment was applied to, and importing/exporting all the fields for your Inventory Items; it just may be that you don't how to do those things. If you have a current Business Care contract with Sage, you can contact them and they will help you with these things free of charge, as part of your Business Care contract. But if you don't have a current Business Care contract, Sage will not assist you - but Sage Certified Consultants will (at a fee).

Sage does not reimburse Sage Certified Consultants for our time. In addition, most of us have many, many, many more years of experience over anyone offering support at Sage, so have tried and true solutions that are sometimes better for clients, and more efficient for clients, that what Sage could offer them. For example, most of our clients who have a current Business Care contract choose not to utilize their support time with Sage - they call us directly instead. They know they are going to get the same person, every time, who not only knows them - but their business too. https://pcosupport.com 800-780-0700 / 954-961-0600

  • Agreed 1000%!! Sage/Peachtree has lost the small business attitude and become something I don't like - a huge corporation that doesn't care about the little guy anymore. Unfortunately, QB is the same I think, although a little better and easier to reach than Sage.

  • Pretty much sums it up! To be clear I am not against the certified consultants making money helping people.

I am frustrated that we pay for a service to Sage and they don't have people certified to provide the help.  They just send us a link to an article on what they think might be helpful.

  • Totally agree.  For the very experienced user for extremely small business users (over 25 years using PT now Sage) on the rare occassion that I need help, it's nearly impossible to get without having to pay someone to help me.  My issues are usually fairly technical in nature and the time and energy it takes to get through to someone that can actually help without having to explain that I've done all the usual and customary things before I even called, falls on deaf ears.

  • Hi Josh,

You MAY purchase a Sage Business Care Plan and Sage will help you.

This is an open forum. ANYONE is welcome to come here and offer FREE advice to anyone else in need of support. If more Sage users, like yourself,  would come here and help others, you could get all of the FREE support you need.  Unfortunately, they don't and we step in.

I am also a Sage 50 Certified Consultant.  This is my livelihood.  If I don't get paid for my time, I cannot afford to be in business.  We Certified Consultants are experienced and we have worked very hard to ascertain the knowledge that we do have. This is our specialty.  We have to get recertified (Tested) every year.  We also have to pay to be a Certified Consultant.    Do we deserve a salary?  I would say YES.

Hope to see more posts from you in the future.

    Best regards,

Shirley Byard,  President Best Business Strategies

    Master Sage 50 Certified Consultant.

Thank you so much for your help today!  I was stressing about those payroll formulas and you knocked them out and off my plate like it was nothing.  Sage sent me an article as help.  It is nice to have a person with the knowledge needed. Your time was worth every dollar and more!
