I received a call. The caller stated that they were from Sage and wanted to renew my software.
This is the number the call came from: Phone number 646-536-7882 This area code does not exist in the USA
The display showed "Spam - Private"
I asked the caller for my Sage ID number and they said they would have to look it up. Then they told me it was against DEA policy to give me my number. How crazy is that?
I told him I was a Sage Reseller and not to call me again.
I am concerned someone like this could call my customers and get their payment information.
In the event that a Sage Customer would get this call, the customer could ask the following questions to ascertain the validity of the call.
1.) Do ask for the Sage ID (400#) they are calling about.
2.) Ask, What credit card do you have on file for me?
3.) How many times have I renewed my software?
4.) When is the last time I renewed?
5.) What is my email address?
Also, please note, Sage does not call from blocked numbers. If they are calling from Sage, the phone says Sage, Not Spam, Private!
