Sage 50 2023 update

Just curious, are all the problems people are having with the 2023 update happening with Windows 10 or just Windows 11?

In my instance the Sage server was a Xeon rack server with 64gb of ram running Windows Server 2019. All the clients are Windows 11 Pro. Even after moving hosting to an offsite provider that specializes in hosting Sage servers 2023 did not improve. I will say that running 2022 on the offsite host is faster than onsite which is quite surprise to me but whatever makes the customer happy. I'm concerned about 2023. They need to fix these issues.

In my case the application server is Windows 2019 Datacenter. I only allocated 8GB of RAM, since Sage 50 Quantum is a 32-bit application that can't make use of more than 4GB of RAM. (Glaring at you Sage for not wanting to put the resources into updating the product to 64-bit)

The workstations are primarily Windows 10-Pro 64-bit, with the one outlier being the company President running Windows 11-Pro, because I gave him administrative privileges and he clicked the wrong button and upgraded by accident.

FWIW I think W11Pro is pretty stable at this point.

It absolutely is, but I'm older and it's a pain to keep re-learning new GUI's every two years, as Microsoft continues to bury the tools that I use most, deeper and deeper into the background.

I can relate to that my friend. Remember when Pro editions were our best friend. All it is now is home with network backup and the ability to join a domain.

Personally, I could care less if W11 is stable.  W10 is the best proven OS that MS has come out with to date (not considering whether W11 is great or not).  I don't care about a few new bells and whistles.  W10 works well with my accounting and tax software and if it works, don't screw with it. To mess with something that works is only inviting problems.  Sage 2023 so far seems like one of the most problematic upgrades Sage has had in a long time and it would be really interesting to know if the problems do have something to do with W11 or just what the deal is.  These seem to be serious problems and if so Sage should step up and tell people not to upgrade until they have their issues fixed. The silence seems to be rather deafening from Sage....

Another curiosity, are all the problems happening on systems running Sage as a network or are the problems happening on standalone systems also.  Seems like most of what I have seen have been on networks?    How about some clarity here Sage!  Also, how long with 2022 work before you deep six it with 2023.  I have no desire to upgrade until I'm pretty darned sure the upgrade is "stable".......

I agree completely.  From what I'm hearing 2023 is fraught with issues and I'm not willing to risk updating unless they fix all the issues.  The devil you know....

You must not have been affected by the Mouse Lag bug 2 years ago. Sage quickly found a solution, but then they held on to it for three months, because they didn't want to issue a special patch out of cycle. It wasn't as bad an issue as the database bug this year, so those who experienced it just had to grit their teeth and bear it, EVERY DAY, ALL DAY, for three months.
