Sage functions locked

SUGGESTED

This has been happening more frequently lately (like several times each day).  When one user is working in 1 function (like inventory or time tickets) other users cannot do any updating to anything (like vendor maintenance, vendor invoices, etc).  Other user gets the cannot do this function because other user has it locked.  Only way to fix is to have the original user log off and back in, but then it locks up right away when user starts working on same module.  Is there a way to fix this because right now essentially only 1 user at a time can update anything in Sage, kind of defeats the purpose of having multiple licenses.

    Hi Martin,

How many licenses did you purchase?   How many computers is the program installed on?

They should both be the same number.   If installed on too many machines, that could be your issue.

    Kind regards,
    Shirley

  • Hi Shirley

3 licenses installed on 4 computers, but one user has installed on both laptop and desktop but only logs in on one of those machines at a time, we never have Sage up on more than 3 machines (which matches our licenses)

You are not in compliance with the Sage User agreement.   They can track the installs now.  I would suggest uninstalling one license to see if that makes a difference.

    1. Installation and Use Rights.
    2. License. The software is licensed, not sold. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install and run the software on your devices for use by your users, but only if you comply with this agreement. The number of devices you may install the software on and the number of users that are permitted to use the software are determined by the version of the software you acquired (see Section 2b) and the number of users you’ve paid for (see Section 2c).

In this agreement, “device” means a hardware system (whether physical or virtual) with an internal storage device capable of running the software. A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a device. “User” means a person that is listed in the software’s maintenance screen. You may replace a user without purchasing additional licenses but you may not share a license.

    1. Permitted users and add-ons.

    (i)      Single user. If you paid for a single user, the software may only be installed on one device and used by one user. You may order an additional license of the software for back-up purposes or remote use on another device. If you order an additional license, you may not access the software from more than one device at the same time.

(ii)    Multi-user. If you paid for more than one user, the software may be installed on the number of devices equal to the number of users you’ve paid for or a local area network or server, but the number of devices permitted to access the software must equal the number of users you’ve paid for. No matter how you install the software, it may only be used by the number of users you’ve paid for and no user may access the software from more than one device at the same time.

If you host Sage out on a cloud server you would not have this issue.  You can contact me directly if you want more information on the best way to host it.  [email protected]

  • If you do need the extra user, we can help you with that.   If you are in an active Sage Business Care plan, the cost would be prorated!
