What is the subscription for?

SUGGESTED

I operate an online auction for commercial fishermen. The primary item bought and sold is quota. There are roughly 150 licensed fishermen that can use the quota, so it is a small world. The auction began in 2011, but beginning next year the IRS will require me to submit 1099-K to sellers.

I have been using Sage Complete Accounting 2013 now for 10 years, but with the requirement to complete 1099-K I need to upgrade software. Ten years ago, one bought the software and it was theirs. Today I see that there is an annual subscription. My question is - what does the subscription provide? Is this updating tax tables? or does the software no longer operate after one year?

Thanks in advance to anyone that answer my simple question.

Sage 50 is now sold only as a subscription, not a perpetual license. The subscription includes 1 year of updates and upgrades, phone and chat support from Sage, and updates to 1099 formats. If you want to do payroll, there is an additional subscription that varies in price based on how many employees you have. If you don't renew your subscription, the software becomes view-only. So you aren't completely locked out, but you can only view existing data. You can't enter or edit anything.

If you would like a quote on an upgrade or a demo of version 2024, you can contact me directly at scollins@iqacct or 918-851-9713.

In case you don't already know, you should be aware that your version 2013 will not work if you ever have to reinstall it. You can read more details here.
