Smart Posting

Question

We recently had what we think was a scammer, inform us that our Sage 50 installation was corrupt because our Smartposting service was not running. My question is there an easy way to identify that there is not truly a problem with the Smartposting service?

SmartPosting Method 
 
 After transactions are saved, they are posted by the SmartPosting service. 
 The service cycles through your database and posts transactions regularly. 
 You do not need to actively post transactions. This is done for you by the service so it will appear that you are using real-time posting. 
 This posting method provides better performance because it allows you to save a transaction without waiting for it to post. 
 In a network environment (with 10 or more users), using this method gives you even better performance. 
 
 Sage allows 3 posting methods. Batch, Real Time and SmartPosting that you select under Maintain Company Information. I could be wrong but I don't believe Smart Posting will cause issues when installing. 
 Are you experiencing error messages with your data? Do you have SmarPosting turned on inside of Sage.
