Sage 50 from Server to Online

SUGGESTED

Good morning,

My facility (nursing home) uses Sage 50 (server based) software for accounting of resident funds and bank accounts.  Our IT department has one server just for this program.  I would like to move to a cloud based platform.  I've tried to reach sales with zero response.

Who here has completed this transition?  How long did it take?  Suggestions on what to do and what not to do.

Thanks.

I can migrate your Sage to a cloud-based server.  It's easy and there would be very little downtime, you can reach out for more info.  [email protected]

    I endorse this option.

    Hi Mary Ann.

We work with two very good hosting companies.  They handle everything for you.  You just show up for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Please do not go out to the internet and google these companies.  There are many that would not server your best interest and could steal your data.

Scammers are popping up al the time saying they are Sage and they are absolutely NOT.  When you see the BBB symbol on their page, if you click on it, it is active.

Those are real.   Pictures are NOT.

Please call me, I would love to work with you and we are legit!

You cannot unless you physically move the transactions and make one of them inactive going forward.

You may wish to use change ID and use the same customer ID but make on -1 and the other -2  etc.

    Kind regards,
    Shirley

If you don't mind Sage passing the buck any time you have issues with a remote hosted Sage install then cloud hosting is for you. /s

I moved our install temporarily to a cloud host during the great update debacle revolving around Sage 2022 moving to 2023. The performance is better if you host in-house, because there is much less distance between your server and your clients. Something else to consider is if you have problems with Sage in-house your IT department can get right on it whereas if its in the cloud then you are at the mercy of your cloud provider. Even something as simple as a restart might take hours to a day depending our your provider/service agreement.

People trying to sell you a service won't be telling you this stuff.

In the end I brought our Sage server back to in-house after a few months.

Who did you use as a hosting provider?  If you use Summit you get an admin access so you can manage the server.  I don't use any other provider because of this.  Managing one Sage install that the users go to is much easier than managing multiple Sage installs where Sage is lobbing the data around.  [email protected]

Not everyone can afford Summit. We looked at it and decided it was out of our price range. Not going to pay more than double the cost of Sage for hosting.

You might investigate https://www.acecloudhosting.com/ hosting.  Used to be known as MyRealData.  I have a number of customers that have found them to be cost-effective.  Not sure what their rates are today having gone through ownership transition.

Good morning.  We are a county owned skilled nursing facility.  Currently, Sage is hosted on a server located at our county admin building.  I know our IT department would like to retire the server as it is the only program using it.  I have shared information received from Sage/Summit about the possibility of hosting rather than doing it ourselves.  It will involve my facility and IT crunching numbers to see what is best going forward.
