Sage 50 2024 super slow over network.

SOLVED

Sage 50 2023 ran fine on our network. On a client machine, "View and Edit Invoice" table updated in about 1 second. However after "upgrading" to 2024 version, the same "View and Edit Invoice" table takes 29 seconds. Other tables also take significantly longer to update.

The server computer updates tables quickly, so it seems to be a network bottleneck, but everything was fine before the "upgrade".

FYI - We have a 100mb network.

What happened? and What can we do to speed up the connection without upgrading network hardware?

Another thing is that it takes about 90 seconds to close.

There are several things that you can check within your network/hardware to speed things up. First, make sure that you have turned off hibernation/power management settings on your NICs (network interface cards) for the server and all workstations. Second, the more available memory you have on the workstations, and the server, will help - we typically recommend 12-16GB RAM for the workstations and 32-64GB RAM for the server. Third, make sure that you exclude the Sage 50 Program directory, the Sage 50 data directory, and Actian Zen, from active scanning on anti-virus programs. And fourth, make sure that all necessary files and ports are open for Firewalls - both software and hardware - per the Sage 50 Knowledge Article 220924750010903, https://us-kb.sage.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=220924750010903. That should get you started on the right track, and then if performance issues persist, then it may be time to review your data file structure and content (size) to evaluate if rebuilding is the right solution. Our company offers that service, including a no-charge Discovery Call to formulate a game plan.

I followed the above advice and gained very little performance increase. So, I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of Sage 50 on the client computer. It now runs great. Evidently there was an error in the previous install.

Now I'm happy once again. Slight smile

    Thanks for your help.
