could not sync the remote data access company error message when logging into company on 2024 Sage 50

We have gone through all of the suggested procedures to access company on the computer housing the company file.  The instructions say to click on the three dots beside the company file name.  We do not have three dots.  We have a cloud icon.

Please advise.

    Hi  ,

Thank you for reaching out. From what you've described, it sounds like you're encountering the "Could not sync the Remote Data Access company" error. This can be due to several factors, including internet connectivity issues, firewall settings, or discrepancies in the software build between machines.

Since you've mentioned not seeing the three dots beside the company file name but instead seeing a cloud icon, it's clear you are attempting to access your company through Remote Data Access. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

    1. Run Sage 50 as Administrator: Right-click the Sage 50 icon and choose "Run as administrator." This can sometimes resolve access and syncing issues.

    2. Restart Actian Zen database engine: This is particularly important if you're in a networked environment. Ensure no other users are accessing any Sage company data before proceeding. Instructions can be found in the article under the "Restart Actian" section.

    3. Check for Inconsistent Builds: Ensure all computers accessing the shared data, including the server, are running the same build of Sage 50. You can find the build number under Help > About Sage 50 Accounting.

    4. Rebase Remote Data Access Company: On the computer or the last access location, open Sage 50, go to Help > Support Utilities > Rebase Remote Data Access Company. This restores the last accessed copy of the company over the cloud-stored version and might solve the syncing issue.

    5. Ensure Data is Located in the Correct Path: Verify the company file is in the correct data path. If not, move the data to the correct location and try accessing it again.

    6. Download a New Copy of the Shared Data: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, consider downloading a fresh copy of the shared company. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and that the necessary ports are allowed through your firewall.

    7. Activation: Make sure your Sage 50—U.S. Edition is activated. Lack of activation can sometimes cause access issues.

    8. Internet Connection and Firewall: Ensure your internet connection is stable and that Sage 50 is allowed through your firewall. This is crucial for Remote Data Access to function correctly.

If after trying these steps you're still facing issues, it may be helpful to consult directly with Sage Support for more personalized assistance. They can provide guidance specific to your setup and help troubleshoot any underlying issues that might be causing this error.

For detailed guidance on each of these steps, please refer to the articles linked below:

I hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

    Warm Regards,

As I've said in my original post, none of these actions work.  We are NOT trying to open a cloud version of the company file.  We are trying to open the company file on the companies computer. Period.
