2 decimal points on balance sheet; zero decimal points on income statement

SOLVED

Hello,

For one of my clients, the balance sheet displays 2 decimal points. The income statement is rounded to the nearest whole dollar.

1) How do I change the income statement to display 2 decimal points?

2) Does this have anything to do with the rounding account (Maintain/Default Information/General Ledger/Rounding accounts tab)?

3) How do you remove rounding? I cannot leave that selection blank.

Thank you for your consideration of this issue.

    1) If the income statement is rounding, then it has been customized. If you use the standard income statement, it will display two decimals.

If you prefer the format of the custom income statement but want it to display 2 decimals, here is how you can change it.

    • View the income statement and then click the Design button at the top of the report window.
    • Right click the "Column Desc" button and choose Properties. The Column Description window will open.
    • Click on any row in the Column Definitions table that has "Activity" in the Contents column. Change the Round setting from Whole Dollars to None. Repeat for each column where Contents is set to Activity or Year To Date.
    • Click OK to close the Column Description window.
    • Click the Preview button to view the new report.
    • Assuming it looks the way you want, click the Save button. If you want to keep the whole dollar version, then give this report a new name. Or save it with the same name to replace the whole dollar version of the report.

    2) The rounding account setting doesn't turn rounding on or off, it only control which account is used to balance out any rounding errors on financial statements that are set to use rounding.
