Can I run my 2017 payroll before w-2's are complete?

Do I just need to close my current month (December) first and download the service pack?

Will the service pack change my w-2 numbers because of the new 2017 tax tables even if December is closed before it is downloaded?

Can I still make changes to my w-2s if necessary after closing the month and downloading the service pack?

    SUGGESTED
    You do not want to install the tax tables for 2017 until AFTER you have printed your W2s. (See article #18039 How and when to install Tax Table Updates). If you need to print January payroll and you have not printed your W2s we recommend your create and archive or copy company of your company PRIOR to closing December. (see #24694 Year End Tips and #17616 How to create an archive or copy of a company). This will allow you to close December in your company to print a January Payroll. When you are ready to work on W2s you can print them from the copy company. It is OK to run a payroll without the tax update as the system is set to self-adjust the appropriate taxes on the next payroll run once the tax tables are installed.
