GL Module Print to PDF

SUGGESTED

We recently upgraded from the 2012 version to the 2017 version of BusinessWorks.  In the 2012 version when I used the print to PDF button in the GL module I could select where I wanted to save the PDF and change the name of the PDF when saving the PDF.  In the 2017 version when I use the print to PDF button it creates a random name for the PDF (Example: xpt1986.pdf) and saves the document to my local temp file.  Is there a setting that will allow me to choose the save location when generating the PDF in the 2017 version of BusinessWorks?  If not, can I set a default save location for the print to PDF button in the 2017 version of BusinessWorks?

by any chance do you NOT have Adobe Reader installed?

In bw I chose a TRIAL Balance report, then chose Print to PDF then
mine opened the view in Reader and I just selected "File -> Save As" and then provide a file name over the random name & folder location

my system is running Win7 64bit, BW 2015

PDF settings would be control by the PDF driver from Adobe and not by Sage BusinessWorks. Sage BusinessWorks also does not have printer settings. When Sage BusinessWorks uses a print function, it is going to use the printer options on the computer – mainly from the print you have selected as the default.

Although technically PDF is not part of the Sage BusinessWorks program, there are a few articles in our Knowledge Base you may want to review if you are having problems printing in PDF. (i.e. #64006 “Can I print my forms and save as a PDF document?” And #59199 “When printing to PDF the PDF file is not appearing on the screen”. You can use the search words ‘print to PDF’ for other articles. )

    Thanks,

I have Adobe Reader installed and I have been doing the "File->Save As" to rename the document and save it in the correct location but it is an extra couple steps I did not have to do in the 2012 version.

I also found another work around, if I click the print button instead of the "PDF" button I can select "Adobe PDF" as the printer and then it works like it use to. It allows me to select the save location and the name before generating the PDF. It is only a few extra clicks of the mouse to do it this way but it is still a little annoying because it use to be so easy before.
