Trying to setup BusinessWorks in a cloud based system

We are interested in setting up BusinessWorks as a cloud based system.  But don't know if that is possible and how to go about it.  Any Suggestions or ideas would be helpfull.

  • We've had BusinessWorks hosted on our private cloud server since May 2019 with no issues or problems of any kind.

Thanks Barbara, if we have questions on how you set that up, would it be OK if we contacted you?  I am not familiar with how to even start that process, so I plan on having that setup for us by a 3rd party IT company, but if there are a couple of issues that we run into, I would like to give you a ring or shoot you an email if that would be OK.  Or if we posted the questions on this thread, would you be able to respond?

Brad, be glad to help.  Call or email will get me.

  • Hi Brad D-

There is a Knowledge Base article #35503 “Is Sage BusinessWorks supported in a cloud environment?”

Technically Sage BusinessWorks has not been tested in a Cloud environment and is not listed in our System Requirements.  HOWEVER we do have customers successfully running in this environment – like Barbara McNary!

To set the expectation in terms of cloud support from Sage, since the cloud environment is not one of our supported environments and has not been tested, Sage Support is unable to troubleshoot any issues you may experience in your cloud environment, such as network connectivity, program functionally, or printing issues that can be due to your cloud environment.  If you run into networking issues, you would be referred to your cloud network specialist for any troubleshooting.

We do recommend if you chose to run in a Cloud environment, the Client Server edition of Sage BusinessWorks is required. Since the program will likely be connected to via Remote Desktop it has the same requirements of a Terminal Server install and that requires the Client Server Edition.

For information on system requirements for Sage BusinessWorks, please refer to KnowledgeBase article #45396 “System Requirements:  Sage BusinessWorks Accounting current version”

     Thank you,

We also have a Knowledge Base article on disaster Recovery.  Please see article #101197 "Disaster Recovery for Sage BusinessWorks".

  • It is possible to host BusinessWorks on the cloud. There is such a third-party hosting provider who hosts Sage BusinessWorks on their servers. Because usually they take care of migration, setup, installations, and provide support, there are only a few chances you will need additional help from outside. I can recommend one such provider that my colleagues' friend is taking service from and are quite okay.
