Closing The Month

Question

I have two questions regarding the month end close. 
 First, we always back up the company before we close any of the modules. When we move on to closing each module it asks if we want to back it up. The person before me said it was not necessary since we already backed up the company and to skip it. Is that correct? 
 
 My second question is, when I closed out the month of January, I think there may have been a hang up. I had closed a module and I thought it already started to close but I looked up and it asked me to type in the month. I thought I had done this but then thought maybe I was distracted. I see that if there is an issue in closing you should exit and restore, which I did not do previously because I thought all was okay. Is there a way to know if the modules closed correctly for the month?

ANSWER: 
 We do recommend that you do a backup prior to the close. If you can confirm you already have a successful current backup, then it is not necessary to repeat the backup when you receive the prompt when performing the month end close. 
 If you have concerns with a close, you can review the Audit Report from the menu Utilities, Audit Report . Every close should list EOM Close (Start) and EOM Close (End) entries for each module closed. If the report shows when the close started but does not show it ended, then you have a failed close and you must restore a backup file created before the close. Once you restore your backup, you will need to reenter and data entered AFTER the backup was performed.

The Audit report should show information for as long as you are keeping history. In addition to form-level changes is will show when you did the month end close. Run the Audit report again. The report shows the most current information first. Scroll down to the date you performed the month end close. You should see a Start and an End for each month that Successful closed . For closes, it should look similar to below. 
 
 If you still are not seeing your month end close, then I would recommend using the Live Chat to work with a support person to help you confirm if you had a month end close failure.
