Disaster Recovery - BusinessWorks 2018

SUGGESTED

Hi,

In reference to the emergency preparedness steps outlined by Kim Crabtree's recent article, we are currently using Build 15 of BW 2018 and running Microsoft Server 2016 within a VMware environment.

Should a disaster recovery situation arise, is there a possibility of downloading this specific version/build to fully restore our server? Moreover, could you outline the procedure for establishing a new server and performing a backup restoration using this older software version?

Thank you,

Michelle

    Hi Michelle-

It’s great that you are inquiring about protecting your data.  Unfortunately, Sage does not supply the downloads for older, unsupported versions like V2018.  Sage only supplies downloads for the versions they currently support, which is their current version and one version back – V2023 and v2021.  You would need your original download of V2018 and service packs to restore to the older version.

However, the steps in the article you reference by Kim Crabtree would still apply to older versions like your version V2018.  The steps include the steps for moving and installing on a new server, as well as how to backup and restore.  These steps are also included in the Sage KnowledgeBase article by searching on the title “Disaster Recovery for Sage BusinessWorks”  or using this link:  Disaster Recovery for Sage BusinessWorks

If you still have questions after reading the article or discuss upgrading to the current version, then please contact us via chat by going to Help, Live Chat within the program to work with a support analyst.

    Sincerely,

    Coleen
