How long does an upgrade take from BW 2021 to BW 2023?

This weekend i upgraded our systems from BW 2021sp14 to BW 2023 sp2.

But how long did it take?

My system is network of 15 desktops running Win 10 and Win11, on Server 2016 ( Dell T550 with RAIDed SSD drives ) all gigabit network connections

Our data folders are : (3) 150 MB sized companies and (2) 1400MB sized companies

The program install take a few minutes BW 2023, a restart was required for the install of the redistributed MS files and then running the install again finished the database install. 5 minutes

SP2 install took less then a minute at the server.

The conversion process for a 1400MB company was about 2 minutes, and most of the smaller company folders took a minute or less, total conversion time was just over 6 minutes for 5 companies.

Our historic data took a bit longer, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022  took about 19 minutes - 25 folders

Client installs took about 2 minutes each, there are a lot of "NEXT" to manually click. and the SP2 took about 45 seconds

A few of the desktops had the redistribution MS files and took less time and 5 or 6 PCs rebooted after the MS files installed

Over all about 1 3/4 hours with backups and installs. And running all over  5000sqft of offices

    Thanks for passing on this information!  Technically, Sage does not have time tables maintained for upgrading since there can be so many variables - size of data, # of companies, speed of network, # workstations, etc....   But this information is useful to keep in mind for anyone who needs to update....even the sqft of the office - this tells us how much walking you had to do to get to the 15 desktops!    It is also good that you mentioned the time to update the historical/archive companies.  Those also need to be updated and takes a little bit of time as well.
