Employer Contribution to employee HSA

SUGGESTED

Hello,

Our company has started contributing to employee HSA accounts this month.  There are some that are contributing as a pre-tax payroll deduction and some that are not.  They can just have not elected to to that yet? How do I get this included on the W-2?

Thanks,

Angella

    Angella-

How you set up the deduction for your HSA is going to determine your taxable status, as well as your W2 calculations and settings.  If you need both pre-tax and taxable contributions, you will need to set up separate deductions to reflect the different tax settings.   Please see enclosed article regarding setting up a HSA deduction. In addition, I included an article on how W2s are calculated.  Depending on how you set up your deduction, this may effect how your W2s are calculated especially Box 1 or Box 16.

How to set up a Health Savings - Cafeteria Plan deduction

How the W-2 figures are calculated

If these article do not answer your questions regarding your HSA deduction, I feel it would be best for you to work with a support analyst on Live Chat to discuss your payroll.  To get to Live use the Help, Live Chat within the program (or go to www.sage.com/resources ) .

Thanks for the response. I already have the HSA deductions set-up.  The contributions to the HSA's I asking about are ones that the company will be contributing on behalf of the employee that qualifies for it. This is new beginning this month.

These are not withheld on a pre-tax basis from the employees paycheck.
