there are 4 user custom fields, you could try

for placing the UPC # in the description#3 line you may have to use a period or underscore to occupy the line 2

I use the custom fields in maintain customers, but when I went to maintain parts but I don't see custom fields. Am I missing it - I looked everywhere.  I see 5 for categories though.

yeah that's what I was thinking,

1. you can rename them in IC - > Utilities-> IC Parameters

2. Make sure before you commit to using a "field" for re-purposing,  the data can be seen where you want to use it.  i.e.  on an invoice or SO or PO or packing list

thanks. categories did not work for me because it takes only 10 characters - our UPC codes r 12.  just landed up putting it in description line 2 since we don't use it.  thanks for your help.
