What is Ransomware?

Less than one minute read time.

Unfortunately many of us have dealt with a computer virus at some point in time. That Monday morning you logged in to a blue screen of death at the office. Or perhaps it was that relaxing Saturday afternoon at home when you got a strange email from a company that appeared to be your bank. Most recently it happened to me in the form of ransomware, a terrifying and clever new form of virus that can find its way through security software. Thankfully the damage was minimal and after a quick update my anti-virus was able to contain and delete the threat. Scott Lewis has an insightful look at how viruses have changed over the years and I thought it was great opportunity to share some information about security and data integrity.
