Duel Montiors

SOLVED

I have two monitors.  I have sage open on the right monitor, however while using the application it will open windows on alternate monitors.  For example, I open a job on the right monitor, but if I select subcontracts within a job that window opens on the left monitor, if i select a specific subcontract, it opens that window back on the right monitor.  It is extremely frustrating.  We did not have this problem until we updated to edition 22  Anyone have any thoughts?

If you drag and drop the application box from the monitor it opens on to the monitor you want it to open on, and then close it, the next time you open it, it should open on the monitor you want.

I agree with your proposal. This is my understanding also on how to solve this.   I have this exact same problem as the OP,  but "should" is the key term you used.   Unfortunately, no amount of me trying has solved it. I continue to have windows open on my second monitor (what appears to be at random).

  • I have the same problem as RCousino in Sage 300.  I cannot get the application box to open on my main monitor no matter what I've tried.  As I am working remotely with one monitor, there are some applications I can't even open to use without freezing up Sage because I'm unable to drag the box onto the screen.  I have 4 known menu items that I cannot use now.  I'm not sure if the "fix" would be the same in 300 as in 100, but I'd love to hear any other thoughts as well.

I forgot to mention I am on 300 CRE as well.  Not the same as the OP who is on 100 -- but same problem none-the-less.

These are workarounds - I don't know what the fix is for Sage itself if what CarrieS mentions doesn't work for you.

Option 1:  Your remote access software or service should allow you to view both monitors in a dual monitor set up.  It may require configuration to do so.  You may want to contact your IT department about that.  However, if you just want to eliminate the dual monitor setup while you are working remotely:

Option 2:  Change your display settings to "duplicate" (displays the same things on both screens) when you're working remotely and you can easily change them back to "extend" when you are in the office.  As an alternative, you could turn off the extra monitor through the display settings.  (directions and terminology assume Windows 10 as OS)

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Click on System.
    3. Click on Display.
    4. Under the "Select and rearrange displays" section, select the monitor that you want to adjust.
    5. Under the "Multiple displays" section, use the drop-down menu to set the appropriate viewing mode:

      • Duplicate desktop — Shows the same desktop on both displays.
      • Extend — Expands the primary desktop to the secondary display.
      • Disconnect this display — Turn off the selected monitor.

Thank you for the workaround, but this still won't work for me.  Most of the time that I am using sage, I am using the info on the left hand screen to input info into sage on the right hand screen.  I need to be able to use both screens and be able to open various application as needed. We did a big jump from ver. 13 up to ver. 22  In ver. 13 every window opened was on the same screen as sage was opened on.  We could choose to drag a window to a different screen if we wanted.

For the foreseeable future most of the sage users in our company will be working from home so the option of not using the remote desktop isn't available.  I have reached out to our IT company, they believe this is sage issue and there is nothing they can do.

I have tried everything you've suggested except for turning off the extra monitor on the computer I'm remoting into.  I am set up to duplicate the monitors already and that has not corrected the issue.  I'll try the last suggestion the next time I'm in the office to see if that helps.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Denise-Jordy When you say you tried the duplicate screen setting and that has not corrected the issue, do you mean that with the monitors set to duplicate you can't see certain box's (window's) when you launch a task at all or do you mean that you can see them but you can't move or use them?  What version of Windows or Windows server are you working on?

If you drag the window to the monitor of choice, press the Windows key + Ctrl + Enter at the same time, close the application, reopen it, it should reopen on that monitor each time after that
