Advice Please: Brand new to Sage where is the best place to start?

SUGGESTED

Has anyone taken SAGE University?

Is there a required level of prior experience or education to make sense of the system?

Thank you,

I did the training classes through SAGE University. I switched from Sage 50 in 2017 and with all the features and modules in Sage 100, I wanted to be sure I was taking full advantage of all the great features this program offered our company. I found it very helpful.

Hi Steven - welcome to Sage 100 Contractor! For new users, Sage University is an ideal training tool. You can access the site here: sageu.com/.../home.html

This is good to know.  Our company switched to Sage 100 on January 1, and we all probably should have taken the training classes.  It has been a difficult and frustrating learning process.  Every day is a little better, but I think we will take the training now to better understand the intricacies of the program.

They offer a complimentary Foundations package that takes about an hour. Essentials runs you through the basic modules in nine hours so you can do the accounting functions; there is a cost for this (depending on your support level).  I've taken Design and Modify Reports so I could produce additional reports. We are getting ready to enroll everyone in the Comprehensive package as we have not been using the additional modules to their capacity.

I have only taken advantage of the AnyTime  learning. We may do some instructor led with our business partner after we have completed the packages.

Steven, I hope you have been able to receive some training, either by SageU or a Consultant. If you need some one-on-one time type training to help you get started faster, I can be of assistance. As an Advisor for 20 years, and a specialist in custom report writing for Sage 100 Contractor, I have helped many Clients do just what you need: Get up to speed quickly, and begin using Sage to its fullest extent.

Which modules do you have? Estimating? Inventory? Equipment? Service Receivables?

Please feel free to contact me directly at:

Contact your business partner to get some help from a consultant. What software are you coming from?
what modules did you buy?  All of this makes a difference in the answer.
if your not committed to your GL Sage has some prebuilt options that set up in minutes. I could send you pdf lists for your review. If you do payroll Sage can build a standard set of payroll calcs too and then you just add the extras you need. Remember to do the in priority order:

    taxes

    child support

    garnishments

    benefits like medical, life, dental

    last is 401k

jump at least 10 between each section go allow room for growth or adding more in same section
