That is your uncleared items.   They affect trial balance but not bank statement yet. 
Or you have something posted in the wrong period. 
run 2-4-31 for the bank account for that for Dec, sort by transaction date. Go to last page. Do you see January records? 

Thank you for your suggestions. I went through every transaction in December and they are all posted correctly.  Also, there are no January records on the 2-4-31 report.  It ends on 12/27. 

OK so how many outstanding checks and deposits do you have from that December bank rec?  Open Sage and pull up the previously saved record, click print, and choose Uncleared Transactions Only dial

You might also need to run the 2-4-31 report for checking, and look at Jan period for 2024 to make sure there are not any December transactions posted to Jan

No outstanding deposits and 4 uncleared checks that total $33,615.

And there are no December transactions posted to January 2024.  

I also did my January bank recs and they came out perfectly. That's why I'm stumped with the GL

If you pull up the completed bank recon in Sage do you get any notices that records were changed?  Are any of the December transactions posted after you did the bank rec?

Nope, no errors at all. I was on the phone with Sage for 2 hours this morning and they can't figure it out either.  The specialist I spoke to said he was going to ask around and get back to me, so I guess we shall see!! Thank you for all of your suggestions.
