1-3 Journal Transaction - "Cleared" Status

SUGGESTED

I am trying to understand what makes a journal entry in the 1-3 Ledger Transactions be marked as cleared? In my mind after something clears a bank recon then it should be marked as cleared, so the only transactions in the "Open" status are current transactions. Right now only a small % of my journal entries are in the "cleared" status. Can someone explain how to mark them as cleared, other than going through each one individually? I am very new to Sage but very experienced in accounting software, but this is throwing me off some. Thanks,

Hi. Only 1-3 transactions that debit (deposit) or credit (check) a cash account that has been reconciled in a 1-5 Bank Reconciliation will have the Cleared status. Transactions from other sources (invoices, adjustments, inventory, equipment. etc.) do not need to have a Cleared status. This includes credit card receipts and payments (if using the 4-7 credit card module) as these have a different indicator they have been cleared in a credit card reconciliation (the check box in the upper right "Cleared Credit Card Reconciliation").

Thanks for answering so quickly! I was hoping that there would be a way to clear all transactions out of the journal entry ledger so that I could only see the current journals but that doesn't sound like it is possible. We use ADP for payroll so I have two journal entries every month (one clearing / cash, one job costing) and it is hard to track down the last entry I made. Thanks again for your help

It might be easier for you to run a 2-4-21 report for one of the accounts that your job costing journal is hitting, then you can see the last entry you made.
