all GL costs are not job costs ?

the G/L accounts in the direct cost range you set up should always be coded to job costs. It is determined based on the account set up. when an account requires job cists, then you have to add entry to match. Somehow this year it is not working. It worked last year without fail. seems as if something has changed with the latest update.

This suggestion was helpful in that I did find part of the error using report 6-3-41. I should note though that even voided records appear on the report so it takes while to drill down on all records to determine what is going on. I have not been able to find the rest of the variances in the two months of this year  yet. So I'm looking for other ideas. This report showed all the expected transactions that we enter into JC (6-3) directly to fix costs if necessary from one job to another (only can match a minus to a plus ). I haven't found anything else to explain the variances. 

report 41 on screen 6-3 was somewhat helpful. Still missing some variances.

You can always reconcile the costs to the expenses under the 6-3 screen. If you open a blank cost, then click File/print, you will preview report 41 which will look at all your direct expenses and compare them to the costs. If they don't match, you will get the records on the report. It is by period so you'll need to do this every month. We made no changes in the update that would affect his. It's possible something was changed in payroll or you are using WIP.

I am having the same issue I have tracked it down to payroll the entry for the paid family medical leave.it is posting however it is also posting an adjustment on the journal transaction still have not been able to get this

I believe I figured out my issue as I no longer have any discrepancies. One of the employees had the button on the HR tab of 5-2-1 screen checked, called ALWAYS USE EMPLOYEE COMP CODE. Since some of the employer costs tracked for this employee were being assigned to different g/l accounts, this button effectively prevented some costs going to different accounts. I removed the checkbox, and the next check all was in balance - job costs match the general ledger posting for payroll costs. Again I found the differences by looking at the payroll posting log found under 1-3 screen for the payroll, compared to a jc report for that employee for that work week.
