how do I create vendor address labels either in Sage CRE 15.1 or Word 2013 I am not a programmer

SUGGESTED

Trying to create labels, it seems it should be way easier than the instructions I found in the knowledgebase, and the examples provided are for versions of word many years out of date.  What am I doing wrong?  Can I print labels right from Sage CRE 15.1?

HI Bean29. There are many ways to do this. I know there are several articles in the KB depending on which version of MS Word you are using. Since there are so many different sizes of labels out there, it wasn't really possible for Sage to include a report that would work to generate the labels that you need. You can email me ([email protected]) and will try to find you the correct article and arrange to connect with you to step you through it.

OK, well I was told to use inquiry and export the info to an excel document. It defaults to save the info as Excel Binary Workbook. When I attempt to open in Word, it says the file/data is corrupt and won't open it.

I actually used the KB that outlines how to do it with MS Word 2007. The initial steps were the same but the merging of the text file into the labels in MS Word was a little different than it was outlined. Do you have Report Designer? If so you might want to look at article ID:30562 in the Knowledgebase and do it that way.

I am using MS office 2013

Otherwise email me directly and I will be happy to help in any way I am able. I am out for the holidays beginning the coming Friday though.

Hi Bean29. After you have exported to Excel do a "save as" on the Excel spreadsheet and change type to xlsx . You should be able to use this in Word merge feature after selecting your label forms.

I also completely skipped the part that outlines process to use the text file to create a table-formatted word document. I was able to bring in the addresses directly from the Text file that I created using report designer.

I tried this numerous times and it is just not working. I spent several hours trying to get it to work, with no results.

Well, all I can suggest is that you email me directly and then I can set up a time to call you and remote in to walk you through it. Other option is to create a report in Report Designer, and try to set the spacing so that it prints to the labels the way you want it to. But since Report Designer isn't a word processor it is difficult to get it to line up just right to the label. It took me about 30 minutes to figure it out, so please reach out while it is still fresh in my brain. I am happy to help. :-)
