OKI 490 and 590 printer issues

One of my customers is running Sage 300 CRE, v15.1.  They have one each of OKI 490 and 590 printers that are attached via LPT1 on two separate workstations and then shared to network.  The only driver they have been able to use is the Epson LQ-2550 driver that was built into Windows XP.  So they've been running 32-bit installations of Windows on their workstations.  They are going to be upgrading to v17.1 soon and will have to use 64bit Windows.  I'm having issues finding a 64 bit driver that will print correctly.  I got the 64 bit LQ-2550 driver from a Server 2k3 - 64 bit machine, but the reports print with a much too large font.  If I use the Epson LQ series 1 (136) driver, the reports print ok, but checks don't print correctly.   To get them into 64-bit Windows easiest and cheapest, I'm setting this up on a Windows 2012 r2 RDP server.  Any thoughts???

The reason I've been given is that when she goes to print single sheet checks (already numbered), if the printer jams it screws everything up....  I'm trying to lead her towards blank checks and a laser with MICR toner.  Still not sure why she prints reports to the dot matrix printers...
