2018 Tax Update with Version 14.1

Hi!

We have version 14.1 because we heard 15 was not working well.  Now we found out we need at least 15 or 16.1 to use the 2018 Tax update.  Is this accurate? Does anyone else have 14.1 and hasn't updated to 16.1 and has uploaded the 2018 tax updates?

if not, we will be doing our upgrade in a hurry this weekend.

Thanks!

    done. first time posting. Thanks!

  • Hi SagerSP!

The supported versions for year-end are 16.1 and 17.1, so if you are going to upgrade, you can skip right over 15.1.  You may still be able to download the tax tables with an older version; you certainly can try it and see what happens.  That being said, in order to do 1099s and W2s, you need to install the year end update, which is only available for 16.1 and 17.1.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

  • The 2018 PR tax update is only available for versions 15.1 update 7 and newer versions. It will not work for versions 14.1 and older. If you try to install it on 14.1 or earlier versions, you will receive an incompatible message.

For the year-end government forms, you will need to be on version 16.1 Rev 8 or 17.1 Rev 6. Since you are coming from version 14.1, you would have to upgrade to version 16.1 anyway before going to 17.1. Be sure to read up on the System Requirements, Release Notes, Important Documents, etc for each version to decide which version you should upgrade to.
