Thank you . We are in the process of updating the article to reflect version 18 for Sage 300 CRE and version 22 for Sage 100 Contractor. The actual dot versions will be known in December.

A lot of people are counting on 18.22 so hopefully they do not remove that.  Thanks

You want to keep in mind that like last year, the Year End release is a full release, not an update. This means that if you are on versions 16.1 or 17.1, and the year end release is 18.x, you will not have to upgrade to version 18 prior to the year end release. You can upgrade to the year end release when it is available in December.

I however recommend that customers who are on v 16.1 or 17.1 that have customized reports, use 3rd party applications and/or customized processes upgrade to 18.3 sooner than later. Some reports may need to be upgraded. Some third party applications may need to be upgraded.  Can get that stuff out of the way before year end version is released. If you do it sooner rather than later the support lines won't be as busy either.  :-)  The year end release only has some minor differences as compared to 18.3.1 where there are major differences between 16.x versions and 18.x versions.

People still using DM cannot upgrade to 18.3 yet so that is a consideration for quite a few.

Denise can you point me to an article that explains what's so different about 18.3.1?  We are currently on 17.1 and usually upgrade in November.  I like to stay a year behind so that we can let everyone else work out the kinks beforehand.

Jeff - Just to follow up, DM is being retired. 18.2.2 was the last release that will support it. There won't be a version of 18.3 or later that works with DM.

    Hi Siri,

You can go to Help, Product Documents and review the Release Notes for each version there.

    Thanks!

No doubt but Sage has been saying they will support 18.22 for year end meaning that people can choose to keep DM, with limited support, until year end 2020.  We are not but I know several who are planning on it.   If Sage does not release a year end patch for 18.22 I suspect those people will choose to forgo installing any year end patch and keep DM instead.

    Hi Jeff,

It sounds like there has been some misinformation floating around. To clarify:

The last version that supports DM is 18.2.2. The year end release will be 18.3.X or later and will not be compatible with DM. If you know anyone that is expecting a year end release that works with DM, can you let them know that we are no longer supporting DM as of December 2019, and the Year End release will not be compatible? They will want to take steps to isolate their DM data on a stand alone machine.

The instructions for this can be found here:

    Thanks!

    Hi Jesse,

The misinformation is the crux of the issue I guess as we have several sources from Sage saying 18.22 will have a year end update released as Sage is actively charging people for DM maintenance into next year.  Our own yearly maintenance bill for Nov 2019 to Nov 2020 shows a full year of DM support on it.    Its a bit of a mess and one of the reasons I brought up the original article above which was dated August 2019 saying 18.22 was going to have a year end update released.  But I also was curious what the full answer was as 18.3 was not on that list and there was surely going to be a year end update for that.   Not sure if Sage is going to go about refunding people if they will not support DM in 2020 or how they plan to handle.  I personally will be glad to get rid of DM.

    Thanks

    Hi Jeff,

I confirmed with our renewal department that invoices are getting prorated based on a 12/31/19 date for DM. You can contact our renewal team at 800-858-7098 if you aren't seeing that on your invoice.

I found documentation that says our year end version will be version 18, which is confusing because it's not specific. I can tell you with certainty that it will not be 18.2.2 or 18.2.X, it will be either 18.3.X or 18.4.X. You can upgrade directly from 18.2.2 to one of those versions, however DM will stop working after the upgrade.

If you happen to have any documentation that  says we will have a year end release version 18.2.X, let me know so we can get that updated.

    Thanks!
