Unable to type in Windows Search or Sticky Notes on Windows 10 machines after upgrade to 18.4

SOLVED

We recently upgraded from Sage 300 CRE version 18.1 to 18.4. After the upgrade, we noticed that our Windows 10 machines no longer allowed us to type in the Windows Search bar (or clicking start and typing), or in Sticky Notes. We did some testing and this is only affecting Windows 10 machines running Sage 300 CRE 18.4 (no issue in Windows 7). The work around we found that resolved it temporarily on these machines was to run ctfmon.exe from C:\Windows\System32, so we have added that as a scheduled task at startup, however, this is not working on all machines. Is this a known issue? Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, is there a permanent fix?

I believe that the issue is a microsoft issue rather than a Sage issue.  Just this week I had one employee tell me that she could not use her search bar any longer and she does not have Sage on her machine.  Our IT person had to get it fixed. Go on Microsoft support website and search Windows 10 search box fix you should find some answers there.

There was a separate search issue this week, where you can type, but it brings up a gray box instead of search results. This was a Microsoft issue and we have disabled Bing search to resolve it. The issue that was caused by the Sage upgrade does not allow you to type at all, and is only affecting Win 10 machines with Sage CRE 18.4 installed. Which search issue were they experiencing?
