14.1 Accounting update 5 not working on workstation, indicating server has higher number update, but it doesn't.

SUGGESTED

I updated my Sage 300 CRE version 14.0 on my server using the download file on this link  ID:71524 Download Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate 14.1 Accounting Update 5.  It processed fine, changed the version information on the about menu.  I did the update files process as indicated in this same link above. I rebooted the server.  Then I used the same downloaded updated file to attempt to process and upgrade on my 1st workstation.  Processed normally, and I watched it the whole time.  I rebooted the workstation.  Now when I launch TS-Main from the sage folder on my start button, I get the message indicating that I have a newer version on my server.  it gives the versions as 14.1.0.3.3 for server, and 14.1.0.3.5 for my workstation.

I checked the patches directory for Timberline Office and one is shown for 14.1 accounting update 5 on both the server and the workstation.  Ran the update on 3 workstations; all installed successfully.  But all get the same error that the server has an update higher than the workstation.  But the numbers the message show actually show the server with a lower number than the workstation.

    Hi MargeHarper,

Several of my customers had this issue. It is addressed in KB article 54911. Please read through that for full detail but the long and short of it is that an XML file storing the version on the server was not updated:

"The update was applied successfully on both the server and the workstation(s), but the ServerVersion.xml file located on the server in C:\ProgramData\Sage\Timberline Office\9.5\Accounting was not updated correctly by the patch."

The solution is to simply open that file with a simple text editor, update the version manually, and you should be good to go. Even though this is a simple fix, I always recommend backing up any files you are modifying (a simple copy to another folder works for this instance).

    Hope this helps.

    John,

After I posted my question, I was able to make it work last night by opening the desktop version of Sage CRE 300 on the workstation. It opened successfully. Then I closed it and opened up TS main, and it worked.

But thanks for the information; hopefully won't happen again, but maybe this helps someone else searching for answers in the middle of the night!

    Appreciate the help, John!
