Job Cost Phase selection not working

SOLVED

Sage 300 CRE Accounting 18.4.1 & Estimating 18.1.2

It appears there may be an issue with the integration with our Estimating & Acconting. When we try to select a job cost phase in the item details - Unit Costs - Job Cost Phase window and click on the ellipses we are prompted to logon to accounting but no selection appears or seems to exist.

Thanks!

sounds like you have not linked your estimating and accounting together? Have you set it up in the "Info" window of the estimate (Home>Info>Job Cost Information).

Aha, didn't see that there but most likely that is the case.  We just upgraded from pervasive to SQL and are still figuring out the differences.

    Thanks!

Yeah, all the old estimates that you converted from PSQL to MSQL will need to be manually fixed  (if you want/need to import them into Job Cost).

You'll also want to do this on the Database (that way all NEW estimates will be setup for Job Cost). To do the Database, open the Estimating Management Console (Start>Management Console) Then click on the Standard DB button and click on your database in the folder tree to the left. Then click the "Edit" button in the middle of the screen and you'll be able to go the Job Cost Information section and setup the JC interface there too. (just like on the estimates). Good Luck!

Yeah I found that setting for the database but didn't realize each estimate needed linking individually, but it makes sense.  Thanks again.

One more question not necessarily on this topic.  If we want to export/backup an individual estimate before changing some of these settings what is the easiest way so if we screw it up we can import/restore it?

We already do regular SQL backups but I wouldn't want to have to restore the entire SQL database to fix one estimate.

to backup just one estimate, use the "Management Console". Click on the "Estimates" button at the top, then in the folder tree to the left, find the estimate you want to backup and right click on it. You'll see an option to "Export" (that means backup). It'll open a wizard and you can check mark as many estimates as you want to 'Export' (backup). This will save a copy of the estimate. later if you need it you can restore it, by right clicking on the folder you want to restore it into and then choosing 'Import'.

Great I had seen the option but wasn't sure if there was another way from the estimating app.  Have a great weekend!
