Archiving Estimating Files

SUGGESTED

Good day everyone

Can someone please tell me the best way to archive estimating files, and store them on the hard drive to maybe retrieve later.

I am thinking of storing the estimate by year and of course the Database would have to be store also.

We are running version 22.1 SQL

Thank you for your answers

Hi, Alan.  I usually have people export the estimates they want to archive and then delete them from the active list of estimates.  If you have a folder structure or file naming convention that utilizes dates (at least by year) this becomes much easier.  Exporting estimates allows you go back and import only the estimates you need if you have to go back to get the old data.

You don't want to use the Backup Tool in the Management Console for this process though.  A backup is a snapshot of your databases at the time of the back up.  Restoring the backup will replace all of your current data with the backed up data. There is no way to restore only specific estimates from a back up.
