  • Streamlined export process for reports.
  • Updated limit increase for light truck and vans placed in service in 2014.
  • Support for Excel format .xlsx.

It is also important to note many provisions for deductions and credits expired at the end of 2013, including:

  • The 50% bonus depreciation for most property.
  • The increased ceiling for Section 179. (The amount reverts back to $25,000 for 2014)
  • The special rules allowing for the expensing under Section 179 of qualifying real property.
  • The accelerated methods for Indian Reservation property.
  • The 15-year recovery period for qualified leasehold improvements, qualified restaurant property, and qualified retail improvement property.
  • The seven year recovery period for motorsports entertainment complexes.
  • The special depreciation allowance for cellulosic biofuel plant property.
  • The election to expense advanced mine safety equipment.

Congress is feeling great pressure to extend these expiring tax provisions or address them through tax reform. Sage is continuously monitoring for any fixed asset tax law changes to update the software.

Should any changes occur you will be notified by email and updates will be posted on both the Tax Center and Support Center update pages.

  • @TFSKelley TFSKelley-Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for any inconvenience SFA has caused.   Our development team continues to look into slowness related issues and we'll pass your comments on to them.   As for the ProSystem FX conflict; if you are still having the problem after installing the fix then I would urge you to either contact our support line at 1-800-331-8514 or send an email to my attention (EricR) at [email protected] with your contact information and customer number.

  • I want to add my voice to the complaints about the 2014 upgrade. After upgrading I discovered it took about 1 minute for FAS to complete a depreciation expense report and bring it to the screen. Today, both my staff accountant and I could not get the report to execute. The FAS "report execution" screen never changed to the report. Task Manager was used to stop the process.

I called Support and was told two things: First, the FAS use of Crystal Reports has slowed the report execution time down and one minute is acceptable from FAS view for that report to be generated.  Second, if you have ProSystems Fx loaded there is a conflict with FAS and you need to load a few new DLL files to fix it. I have a "demo:" loaded for ProSystems. The Support person said the best solution is to not use ProSysytems Fx.

The delay in report generation is really poor. FAS needs to find a solution to cure the time wasted waiting for a report. I expect the FAS "tool" to work quickly and efficiently. The delay in report generation does neither.

  • @Dwagner - Our development team is still looking into the PCL6 driver issue along with the "field name not found issue" you have experienced.  I would recommend checking the related knowledgebase articles for the most current information related to your specific issues.

I will also have a support supervisor contact you tomorrow to provide you an update.   I’m sorry this has been so frustrating for you but the development team is diligently working towards a resolution.

  • EricR, 20 days ago you said that your development team was working on the problems with the 2014.1 Release and that you would keep me posted.  I HAVE HEARD NOTHING IN 20 DAYS.  Nearly TWO MONTHS since the release of this update, the problems remain.  WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE FIXED?  PLEASE RESPOND WITH SOME ANSWERS AND DATES.  I just received a brochure from Sage that reads "Your trusted Sage Fixed Assets system can carry a bigger load!" right on the front of the brochure.  On the inside cover it says "Your Sage Fixed Assets system always gets the job done."  Really??????   The gross lack of professionalism on the part of Sage continues to constitute a ridiculous waste of your customers' time.  This kind of advertising is misleading and insulting!!!

  • @Dwagner - I’m sorry this has been so frustrating for you. I understand our Support Team was able to talk to you just a few minutes ago.  Our Development Team is working on this issue and we will be sure to keep you updated.
