Hello Iryna, if this is the student version of the software I'm still waiting to find out whether or not it gives access to the payroll module. Pretty sure that only regular programs on trial or with a service plan or those using the Accountant's Edition with an active service plan have access to the icon you specified (the cheque creation screen).

So that's correct, the student version should have limited access to the payroll module (the paycheck screen should be accessible). Did you acquire the software and codes from the educational partner program website at https://www.sage.com/ca/about-us/education?

If so, then try going to the help menu from the main screen for options like Activate now, or update / check Sage 50 service plan.
