Reinstalling Sage Timeslips 2004 on New Computer

SUGGESTED

I have reinstalled Timeslips 2004 on a new computer for a client.  He does not want to upgrade.

It is prompting for a registration code.  Is there anyone out there who can help get the installation registered?

I already entered the reinstallation codes.  I just don't have a registration code.

Thanks,

Tammi

Sounds like you entered the installation codes, not the reinstallation code. The reinstallation code would eliminate the need to enter a registration code. I don't know that there is any way to get a code for a 17 year old version of the software. I am surprised you can even get it to work on a current operating system.

Hi , I am a bit unclear about the reinstall code you are using. Where/when did you get it?

If you have the old v2004 still running on the old computer, then I would go back there and get the reinstall code from under the Help, About Timeslips menu.

That one should have the RP/Registration Code already included in the reinstall code.

I have found through experience that in the past, if you copied out the reinstall  code after the install, but BEFORE being prompted for the RP code when you opened a non-demo database, then that reinstall code would NOT be enough to reinstall later.

Aside from that, I have been told that if a customer calls Sage and ONLY wants their codes again that Sage will provide them, no matter the version.  I have had mixed results with that advise, and thus would try to method mentioned above first.

    Hi Nancy,

It is probable that I did things in the wrong order.  I have attempted talking to Sage and was told it is too old.

Is there a way to do a clean uninstall and do things in a different order?

    Thanks,

    Tammi

If it is a new computer, I would just Uninstall and Reinstall with the code from the old machine.

, was thinking about this yesterday evening (funny how your subconscious sometimes keeps working a problem) and I realized that you could quickly tell if the number you used the first time was different than the one showing in Help, About Timeslilps on the old computer.  If it is the same, then the uninstall/reinstall will likely not work. But if the two reinstall codes are different, then it would be worth a shot at taking it off and trying the install with the different code.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks Nancy,

I know what you mean, I've come up with some of my best solutions in the shower, :).   will look at the numbers and determine if they are the same or not.

If you are still in need of the Registration number, please let me know.  That can be obtained from us at Sage.  We need the serial number in order to be able to generate it again.

If you can get the installation and reinstallation code from the old installation, you won't need a registration number as it will already be registered.
