Try this and let us know if it works for you.

How to clear a stuck timer.

1) Make a backup.

2) Create a new "dummy" client to manage your stuck timers. You might want to name it something like ZZStuckTimers so that alphabetically it is located at the bottom of your list, and out of the way of your regular clients.

3) Change the client on the errant slip to ZZStuckTimers and save the change to the slip.

4) Change the client classification of the ZZStuckTimers client to Closed. This should force the timer off, but it also closes the slip. So, you won't be able to see it.

5) You can then change the client classification for ZZStuckTimers back to Open, which should reopen the slip and make it visible. Locate the slip and change the client back to the correct one.

6) Keep ZZStuckTimers around in case you have this issue again in the future.

This is not exactly a "glitch," it is a symptom of the software being unable to manage who turned the timer on. This typically happens when the same user logs onto Timeslips on two different machines. If you look in the lower right corner, it will tell you who it thinks is logged on at that machine. Almost 100% of the time, when someone gets a stuck timer, we find more than one workstation using the same login. This confuses the audit table and can create stuck timers.

LOL, I think I learned it from you. ;-)

This worked. Thank you. But I accessed the Timeslip program from only one computer. I have no idea why the Slip duplicated itself and then would not let me turn it off. But thx for your help.

First thing to check is that all users are logging into Timeslips uniquely.  To do so, go to each computer that runs Timeslips, open the program, and look in the lower right corner to see who it 'thinks' is using Timeslips during that session. You want to have NO duplicates.
