Removing/reversing old Funds entry applied to wrong client

Doing a deep cleanup on a client and we are down to the last few transactions. I have a few where an old employee applied a funds payment to a wrong client and never reversed it (but they did apply it to the correct client as well). We have the documentation showing the correct client.

In this case, the client with the mistakingly applied funds had a bill created 2 years later, which pulled from the funds that didn't belong to them. The lawyer has not done work with them since. 

I cannot edit or remove the funds payment because of the later bill I think.

Can I remove the bill, then remove or zero the payments and rerun the bill? They will then show a small balance which he may write off (this was 2016-2018)
