Spell Check

I am using Time Slips 2010.  During spell check, quite often a word is misspelled (for instance, a name) but the correct spelling does not show up in my list of options.  Is there a way to correct the spelling at that point?   So far I've had to choose "ignore" and make a note so that I can go back and correct it when spell check is completed, which does not seem very efficient to me.

  • From the Help file within the program, emphasis added:

"This dialog box opens when you manually check for grammar errors and Timeslips finds an error.

Use this dialog box to correct grammar errors.

This dialog box contains the following fields and buttons:

Misused word – Displays the word(s) causing the grammar error.

To correct the errors, you can manually change the word here, or you can select a replacement from the Suggestions list. Timeslips will replace the misspelled word with the replacement term when you click Change."

    Hope this helps.

Folks for us, it's all about the Kudos.  If you think this suggestion was especially helpful, please consider clicking the KUDOS! (yellow) icon in this message.  Thanks.

  • Further details to add to Nancy's posting...

(I'm using TS2009, so it may be different for you.)

Where she says you can "manually change the word here" -- where the word appears in the text box to the right of "Not in Dictionary" -- just put your cursor in there and change the spelling of the word, then click on the "Change" button.  This will do two things:

    • change the word on the slip, and
    • if the word is still not in the dictionary, you can now click on the "Add" button to have it added to your dictionary.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for your help - it works!   I was missing the step of hitting the change button.
