Timeslips 2010 Backup Error Message

We use Timeslips 2010.  For over 3 years, we backed up our timeslips data every day with no problem. About a month ago, we started having a serious problem.

For years, the backup process usually took less than 5 minutes.  Now, the backup process never ends and it tries to back up files from over a year ago; It tried to back up the files on a day-to-day basis from over l8 months agao.  It first backs up these files: "QuickenDate-201*-Month-day.Qdf-backup; then, it starts backing up QuickienData201*MonthDay.QDF files;  then it attempts to back up ~WRA1280.wbk file, but it stops.

The following message appears: Access Denied: Possible reasons may be: Database Security restrictions; Not enough disk space; Network restrictions; illegal file name.

Our data base is not on a network; there are no network restrictions; we have plenty of disk space; there are no database security restrictions to affect timeslips; we have not changed anything in the past 60 days; the file name is what timeslips suggests; we do not pick our own file name, albeit we tried a different name and still got the same result.

I even tried to backup by excluding the subfolders but the backup process did not change.

I appreciate all comments and suggestions that you may have.

Sounds like someone has started storing files inside your Timeslips data folder.  Those times you mentioned have nothing to do with Timeslips.  There are maximum sizes that can be backed up.  The backup is really a zip file.  I suspect all these extra files cause the backup to exceed the maximum allowed.

you are right.  Presently, Timeslips uses the database located at C:/Users/Myname/backupfile. this directory includes backup files from bunch of other programs. When timeslips is asked to backup, it tries to copy and back up everything in this directory.  I tried to copy my database and have T/S use the new database, it did not work. I also tried to restrict what T/S would copy during the backup process, it did not work.  How can I create a mirror image of my existing database and then have T/S go to the new location to retrieve the database. That way it will not copy my other backup files.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to do this. You basically need to make a copy of the folder and delete all the files that don't belong to Timeslips. Then change to using this folder for your database. It is not something I can tell you via a forum, would require "hands on".
