What is the goal of the default dimensions ‘MWIF’?

1 minute read time.

Under Setup, General parameters, Parameter values, TC chapter, ACC group, it has several lines of default dimensions.

Out of the box value for these default dimensions are MWIF.

Each of these general parameters are used to specify the default dimension code that will be used to load the dimensions for various transactions upon finalizing a work order.

  • When you are managing dimensions and you wanted to track dimensions throughout the work order process (GESMFG) and beyond, you need to setup the default dimensions.
  • For example, MWI for released products, MFM for components, and MFO for machine/labor, to populate the dimension values extracted from different identifiers.
  • When tracking (GESMTK) the work order we need to setup the default dimensions that will write into the WIPCOST table.
  • For example, MKI for released product tracking, MKM for material tracking, MKO for machine tracking, MKOLAB for labor tracking, and for overheads, MWIOVEMAT material overheads and MWIOVEWST operating overheads.
  • Finally, when closing and finalizing a work order, above default dimensions will write into WIPCOST table for the WIP balance and WIP variance lines.

In this example, please find below a tracking record with dimensions:

  • Dimension type - CCT (cost center)

  • Dimensions are recorded in the WIP accounting document.

  • WIPCOST inquiry after closing and costing the WO.

  • WIP balancing accounting document with dimensions:
  • Dimension values are derived from the default dimension ‘MWIF’.
