When running Material Requirements Planning MRP, how does it determine the suggestion type to use?

1 minute read time.

When running Material Requirements Planning MRP in Manufacturing, Planning, MRP processing or Stock, Reorders, MRP processing, the type of the planned order created by MRP depends on the setting of the Suggested type that is selected in Common data, Products, Product-site, Planning tab. There are several suggestion types:

No suggestion: When no selection is made for the reorder mode or the suggestion type. This can be used for a non-managed product or if the product does not go into production.

Purchase: When the product is a raw material, the flow type is set to bought on the product category, and the reorder mode on the product-site is set to By MRP.

Manufacturing: When the product is a finished or semi-finished goods, the flow type is set to Manufactured on the product category, and the reorder mode on the product-site is set to By MRP.

Intersite: This is used to transfer between sites if the Reorder site for Intersite is entered in the product-site section.

Subcontracting: When the product is a subcontract, the flow type is checked for Subcontracted on the product category, and the reorder mode on the product-site is set to By MRP.

  • Hi Richard,

In MRP processing, a list of sites can be entered so they can all be processed simultaneously.

  • Forgive me a little here, am new to using Sage as an ERP solution.
We are reviewing our Supply Chain processes & how we utilise Sage.  One of the processes we are looking at is MRP.

We have a number of physical sites & each is set up as a site.  Can we run MRP at a global level across all sites, and for materials / components it would suggest either a PO of a transfer request, depending on Global availability of said materials / components.

If so, how do I do this pls?
