Why aren't Accounting documents generated when running the Generation of Accounting Entries for Account Transfers in Fixed Assets module?

2 minute read time.

Have you wondered why there are no journal entries processed for the accounting allocation modification function in Fixed Assets module?

  1. What is Accounting allocation modification?
    1. This function can be accessed in two ways.
      1. in Fixed assets, Fixed assets, Assets select a single asset from the left list that you want to modify the accounting code and select the Change the acct allocation option under Actions menu on the right.
      2. Or in Fixed assets, Processings, Movements, Accounting allocation mod to carry out a mass modification of the account allocation for all the assets or for a selection of assets, belonging to one or more financial sites in a single company.
    2. This change can affect the holding type, the classification of the assets as Held for sale, the Asset group and /or the Accounting code, the Date put into service. It is used to perform start-up operations; transfer of a Fixed assets in progress to a Fixed assets in service account. This window can also be used to view the new depreciation methods and the carry out any modification required. Before being carried out in real mode, the processing can be simulated in order to access the results using the report. Assets for which an allocation change is prohibited are excluded from the process. These are: Inactive assets, assets with the in template holding type, assets which have been subjected to an  actual asset issue, assets in the process of an intra-group transfer
  2. What causes the generation of accounting entries to not process an accounting document?
    1. In Setup, Fixed assets, Accounting entry types for FASCHGIMP (FA - Account transfer) setup is incorrect.
    2. This will cause an error upon processing the generation of accounting entries for FASCHGIMP.
    3. Or system might update the posted flag CPTFLG to 2 in table EFASCHGIMP thinking that the entry is not required.
    4. And this will remove the un-posted account transfer entries from the status of context.
  3. How to fix the entries that have not been posted?
    1. First check the accounting entry type FASCHGIMP in Setup, Fixed assets, Accounting entry types does exist in the current folder.
    2. If not log into the Enterprise Management (formerly X3) reference folder and copy the Accounting entry type into your PRODUCTION or TEST folder by using the Copy button.
      1. Then connect to your PRODUCTION or TEST folder and check that it is active, closed, current, and open periods check boxes are checked.
      2. Select the legislation USA under posting grid and make sure there is a valid entry types and a journal code assigned to it.
      3. Make sure you validate the entry type by using the Validation button. Failing to validate may not update the changes.
      4. Additionally, in the interface tab go to the last page and make sure the OWNTYP line is selected and the source table EFASCHGIMP plus the source field OWNTYPD is filled in.
    3. Then enter a new account transfer and run the Generation of accounting entries in Fixed assets, Processings, Account. interface in simulation mode.
    4. Make sure you see the entries in the log.
    5. Once you have verified the debit and credit lines you can run it in actual mode. I.e. without selecting the simulation.
    6. Once the actual entries are generated you can check them in Fixed assets, Processings, Account. interface, Accounting entries.
  4. What to do when the entries have not been posted in Fixed Assets module and the account transfer entries are not available to process? I.e. in status of context, posting tab events not posted grid doesn't show any un-posted FASCHGIMP events.
