I believe that this may be attributed to the updtick value but I'm unsure of how to reset back to 0?

Quick question, Why you picked MDO as function in Import template?

Because of this post as it was the only suggestion I could find. I couldn't find much information on what to use for a custom import template to a custom table. If it is wrong and that is the issue then I'll gladly change it, just not sure what to use instead?

Note that someone that works for Sage PSG has looked at my template and the table and did not comment on the use of MDON so I assumed all was well.

I tried a simple import on a simple table and yes seems to work with MDON, 

Is the table you are importing has two part index? or one part?

Could you provide screen shot of the table and fields and index and also field on the import . 

On Sunday I was actually able to get this working. I'm really not sure why the template didn't like the formats I was attempting to import but I ended up 'cleansing' things by importing into Google Sheets, exporting as a CSV, and using ASCII 2 type on the import template and UTF-8. All is well now.
